Dutch Tulip Production
The Netherlands produces roughly 60% of the annual growth of Tulip bulbs worldwide, even while agriculture and horticulture represent only a small share of Holland's total economy.
More than 60 percent of the total surface of the country is used for agriculture and horticulture, and a significant portion of that is for the bulb growing industry, especially to those focused on Tulips.
The Tulip has been the most exported flower bulb for many years now. In 2014, 2 billion Tulips were exported world-wide, vastly ahead of Lilies in second place with 1.1 billion.
