This is an authentic, unique ceramic tile that once adorned a home in 17th century Holland. As such, only one is available for purchase, as these tiles are rare and highly unique - providing a piece of historic Amsterdam for your home.

First developed by Ottoman manufacturers in the 15th century, tile making techniques had gradually traveled west, having been adopted in Spain and Italy before arriving in the Netherlands.

The towns of Leiden, Hoorn, and Gouda had established tile works by 1600, followed later by Delft and Amsterdam. This tile likely originated in one of these cities.

Tulips first began to appear on these tiles around 1610, initially accompanied by fruit but later - as they rose in popularity - on their own. As this tile includes only a vivid, single Tulip (a bulb rising out of a heart shaped vase into a vivid orange and blue flower), it was likely created in or around the 1620s.
